Tollcross is the hub of Edinburgh and you have easy access to the whole of the city. It sits especially close to the Meadows, the Union Canal and from almost everywhere you get great views of the castle.
There is a great deal to do in the area with the newly renovated Usher hall playing host to the main Edinburgh International Festival. The Royal Lyceum and Kings Theatre is located there and two brilliant art house cinemas in the Cameo, and Filmhouse each of which host Edinburgh's International Film Festival as well as two other modern cinemas showing more conventional choices. When the Book Festival comes it is only a short walk away to Charlotte Square and so is the proximity to the Grassmarket, Princes' Street Gardens, and most of the festival venues.
Business-wise Tollcross is very handy for Edinburgh's international conference centre, the exchange district, Edinburgh Art School and Clydesdale Bank Plaza.
After work or a day's exploring, there are some great bars worth visiting including Brauhaus, Lebowski's, Cloisters and The Blue Blazer. It also has the fantastic "Apartment" restaurant which generally needs an advance booking to guarantee a seat at this popular eatery.
